KALIEDOSCOPE

When Was the last time you felt free

I was free from everything.

All I could hear and feel was the wind rushing through

My body in that warm spring sun.

Running through the hills

I was free from the stress of sports

Free from the pressure of relationships

I could finally focus on myself,

Which I know sounds selfish, but for the past couple of years

I only focused on how others were feeling and not

About how I was destroying my own confidence.

I saddled up my horse mid-day and walked through the fields at first,

Then I started urging my horse to sprint as fast as she could.

It felt like flying.

Not like any bird flying,

Or airplane flying,

But like an eagle soaring.

The symbol of American freedom,

And my freedom from anything, and everything

It was something I could do, to

Let go of the breath I had been holding for the past months.

I could breathe at last and I felt like a little kid once more

Not worrying about what could go wrong,

But living fearless and brave once more
