KALIEDOSCOPE

How To Submit
Submission
Released each May and considers original submissions from any and all Poudre High School students, staff, prospective students, alumni, and the front range community in the following general categories.
Evaluation Process
Staff members evaluate all submissions anonymously. The faculty advisor and the student staff of Kaleidoscope take this very seriously, and make every effort to ensure the anonymity of all submissions. The web app through which we accept submissions automatically removes names and assigns each piece a number for evaluating and voting. As an added safegaurd, the faculty advisor views every submission prior to giving access to the student staff. At no time during the evaluation or selection do members of the staff ( including the faculty advisor) have access to names associated with submissions. Each Kaleidoscope staff member evaluates all submissions individually and maintains written notes justifying their votes. The staff determines common criteria for evaluating written and organization, diction, and voice, but factors such as originality, technique, style, effective use of literary/poetic devices, and universality are also considered. For visual art submissions, evaluators look for work that exhibits a strong understanding and application of the elements and priciples of art, excellent craftmanship, composition, technical competence, skillful application of media, and emotive qualities.
