KALIEDOSCOPE

Steady

There are people who leave,

who are as shifty

as the wind.

People who only stay

just long enough to

get what they want.

People who ignore you

for years while you slowly waste away.

You're not that

you're the kind of

steady that reminds

me of heartbeats,

of family, chosen and not.

You're the kind of

steady that warms me

inside.

The kind of steady that

has been there for

it all.

You've seen the good

the bad, the parts that no one

sees.

You were the warmest

thing in that classroom.

you are the kind of

person that stays

no matter how bad

it gets.

The kind of person

who makes me laugh

who's pulled me out

of dark places

whos seen me cry

and crumble

who's never run

away, no matter how bad.

You're my favorite

kind of steady.

The kind of steady

that makes me

so damn

lucky to have

found

you

I wrote this poem for my friend.
