The Last Tap

TAP! TAP! TAP! I was typing furiously, and Alyssa's cell phone was exploding and popping like popcorn with notifications. Who was blowing up her phone? I was. I blew up her phone upsettingly with a bunch of notifications of confusion and I was extremely worried, Why didn't you tell me? I texted her furiously. I thought we talked about her, so I texted her again. Then I knew it, she was reading my messages but Alyssa was filled with annoyance like a cup of water filled with ice cubes slowly melting and raising the water every drop. I sent another message to Alyssa, Why didn't you tell me you were friends with her again? She hurt you in the past and I'm worried she might do it again!
Alyssa was shocked by this, and replied, “What are you my mom? I guess I have to tell you everything now-”
I cut her off, I'm just looking out for you. I said.
Oh I understand now Gabby. Alyssa stated.
You're jealous of me and Meda hanging out again! Alyssa made the assumption,
Alyssa then went on to ignore me for days and days, leading to the climax of our friendship, and Alyssa planning on going her separate ways.
DING! “Huh…?” I jumped at the sound of her phone notification and immediately checked to see who texted her. “What's this..? Alyssa texted me?” I read aloud in my head. As I read the message a shock stronger than a brain freeze hit me like a brick.
I'm not gonna be your friend anymore. -Alyssa
I read the message with a bit of hurt in my heart, and tried to reply with the obvious, “Why?” just to see “NOT DELIVERED” appear. I was extremely hurt by this, and went on to get over it days later, as a way to cope. Losing your best friend is never fun, especially when you both have been through thick and thin together. Talking about your day to each other, sharing snacks at lunch, and even going to the mall or movies together. Some people don't get you at all, but your best friend always knows what to say. Your best friend always knows how to make you laugh, and your best friend always knows how to bring back the past funnier than last time. At the time you might think to yourself, “I don't know what I'd do without them in my life.” until the worst possibility comes to life. Coping with the fact that you won't have someone who clicks with you better than others do, does hurt. It's hard to find ways to cope with the fact that you aren't friends anymore.
Eventually I came to the realization that having a friend like that isnt somebody I need in my life. When I say, “Like that” I mean somebody who jumps to conclusions, has jealousy issues, and overall tries to shove events in your face to make you jealous aren't the best traits to have in a friend. I didn't know what was coming next though. The return of someone I just finished getting over, was right around the corner.
DING! DING! DING! “What is up with my phone always blowing up?!” I thought to myself, but to my surprise it was Alyssa. She asked to be my friend again.
Hey, I think things ended wrong. Could we start over? I read her message in my head, but I couldn't bring myself to be friends with someone like that again. If it didn't work out with Meda, why would we work this out? I tapped my phone and sent her a message for the last time. I kindly declined her request and blocked her on all my socials, and my phone number. Even if things did work out in some random universe, I just can't take being neglected like that again. I tapped my phone one last time, and said goodbye.
