KALIEDOSCOPE

Sleeping on the Edge

Dreams weave through my translucent eyelids. Swirls

of clouds tickle my grinning cheeks. Blinking,

I giggle at their cotton candy curls.

Still oblivious to who was slinking,

I dove deep within that world. Before I

knew it, intense pain jolted me awake

as claws dangled from my cheek. A loud cry

escapes because of my cat’s gross mistake.

Blood gushing everywhere, I have no time

to console her fear. The pain throbs in my

ears. I had to stop this mess. Her crime

was not intended, but makes my left eye

twitch at my unwanted pierced lip. I scar

less if I sleep far from the edge…so far.
