In the Garden

In the garden the plants wait in peaceful grace
Roots running deep leaves reaching for space
The warm wind howls through willows hair
Bees buzz flying to flowers with no care
Sunlight drips from above like melted gold
Bathing the world in colors soft and bold
The soil sings with a life of it's own
Like a soft symphony waiting to grow
Petals outstretched like a arm in the sun
Joyus about the warmth that has now begun
But beneath the surface the world moves slow
As the roots take ticking time they go grow
Showing us the things we need to know
Through endurance our inner light grows
In stillness and patience we find what we need
Take your time, grow and nourish your seed
The Main inspiration for this poem is of course nature but more specifically the garden at my dads house we grow many plants, cabbage, squash all sorts of things but all the time sunflowers begin sprouting in the yard around the garden and those inspired my mentions of the sun and the petals outstretched. The message I was trying to convey with this poem is that nature and the outside world are very beautiful but more so humans should learn from plants and the world around us to take their time in life and grow with patience. Some lines I’m proud of are my AA lines I think they mesh together well and that my rhyming matches the theme well while sounding good but a specific coupling I’m proud of is the “sunlight like melted gold” following up with “bathing world in colors soft and bold” I was scratching my head trying to think of a landscape to add instead of mention of plants and I thought this was a good idea that presented interesting imagery. One of the poetic devices that are prominent in this poem is imagery this was very important for the enhancement of this poem as itswell needed for the description of landscape and the plants another poetic device used is simile I used this because I feel it enhances the depth of the poetry and describes the visuals or statement through different words I also tried using personification in this poem such as “the plants wait in peaceful grace” and “the soil sings with a life of it's own” I did this to help push the message of humans learning from plants giving the plants some life and a little personality to make them more human like.
