To adore trees
And to love the leaves
Is all i hope to ever need
Everything shares in some way
Decaying grass Dawns green Dots even in their Dying state
Being outside Brings different love for the green
Always been there,
Unintentional yet riddled with purpose and reason
How i’ve kept this color with me,
Where would i be
Without this green?
This brick road reminiscent of Dorthy, definitely not there
My homes,
Here
two colors connect not only to one another,
But to people, families, groups, communities that take care
My path painted bright
From one beginning to new starts
Home
Ian Horn/ Mr. Horn.
The lines and stanzas in this poem are structured according the three color codes that make its name. These color codes are that of the Colorado State University green which happens to be the exact same green that the Prek-12 school I attended growing up also uses. When I first came to CSU I was astonished to see the same green that I had been surrounded by in my youth follow me to the place I considered my new beginning. Through looking at the colors relevant in my life I found connecting paths that hold both my history and my future, reminding me that every part of the process matters even when an "end" appears to have been reached.
This poem is taken from a series of three poems that meditate on the topic of watching paint dry to better analyze relationships held with color, memory, sense of being, and passive engagement with certain aspects of life.
