Amative for him, he is the
Backpiece that protects me.
Comfort leaves me when he
Departs. From morning until
Evening, I wait. I wait for him to come back home,
Fainly. When we pass on, he will receive a
Gage for his devoted love to me. I am
Hamate unto his love. An
Image of his love is placed into my heart. I’ve taken a
Jurant to love him forever. God has placed a
Kettlestitch to bind our
Lives. We
Marvel over our love. We are
Nemophilists for each other and the woods. I take
Oviation in your
Presence. The true
Quality of him as a whole is unknown to himself. I cannot
Reason why he keeps me around. Possibly because I
Sculpt his body with snacks, and we work in
Tandem together.
Until we
Venture and
Wander into Heaven together. He is the
Xylem of my body. I
Yearn for him with
Zeal that only God understands.
My fiance inspired this poem because we are getting married in September, and I’ve been thinking of vows and I figured this poem would be a great opportunity to get some ideas for that. The obvious message I was trying to convey was love in general, but I wanted to make it really specific because I feel a lot of love poems are all gooey, and I wanted a more raw one. I’m really proud of the line “God has placed a Kettlestitch to bind our Lives” because I think it shows how much our lives naturally started blending when we started dating. The poetic devices I used were connotation, simile, and enjambment. I enjoy using similes a lot, so I was able to incorporate those in a fun way. Connotation adds to the personality of the piece as a whole because each reader feels slightly different when reading the poem. Enjambment was used because it is an abcedaria,n after all, so the only way it would make sense would be to have some crazy lines.
