KALIEDOSCOPE

Hi, my name is Audrey, and I did printmaking for my piece. I used the technique of etching, which required me to engrave my design on a piece of plexiglass and then run it through the printink press. My piece reflects the loss of memory and forgetting your loved ones. This piece highlights my great aunt, my favorite person growing up and my inspiration.  A few years back, she died due to cancer, and over the years, I have started to forget exactly what she looked like. In my print, I scrambled up the pieces by creating a grid on top of the original picture of her and then changing the placement of the squares in the grid. This helped show my disoriented memory and the struggle with remembering exactly how she appeared.
